If you’re looking for something truly unique in Amsterdam — beyond the usual museums and canal cruises — then let me take you to AMAZE Amsterdam. I went in thinking I’d just see a cool light show, but wow… it was so much more than that. Think immersive theatre meets electronic music meets a journey into your own mind. Yep, it’s that wild — and I absolutely loved it.

AMAZE is a 3,000 m2 labyrinth of seven different experience worlds, each one filled with mind-blowing visuals, lasers, intense soundscapes and interactive installations. It’s created by the minds behind Dutch dance event legends ID&T (hello, Sensation and Mysteryland fans!), so you know the production quality is next level.

What to Expect

From the moment you walk in, you’re part of the show. No phones, no distractions — just you and the experience. The first room completely threw me off in the best way: darkness, whispers, and suddenly — boom — light and bass like you’re in a secret rave. Each room has its own vibe. One moment you’re floating through a calm, meditative space with soft lights and tranquil sounds, the next you’re dodging lasers and moving to pulsing techno beats.

The transition from one space to the next is seamless and keeps you on your toes. You don’t just look at art here — you feel it. At times, I caught myself grinning like a kid at a theme park. It’s playful, intense, beautiful, and weird in all the right ways.

Who Should Go?

Honestly? Pretty much everyone. I saw couples on quirky date nights, groups of friends on a night out, even a few families with older kids (10+ is the minimum age). It’s also an awesome pick if you’ve got colleagues in town and want to do something that breaks the ice — it sparks conversation for days.

If you’re into EDM culture, art installations, sensory exploration, or just want to do something you’ll be talking about for weeks, then this is your spot.

Practical Info

The whole experience takes about 60–75 minutes, and time slots are well-managed so it never feels overcrowded. You can easily combine it with lunch or dinner nearby — Westergas is a 10-minute walk and full of great places to eat and drink. There’s also a small café and shop at AMAZE itself, perfect for a post-experience tea or souvenir.

Fun Fact: AMAZE was born during the pandemic, when nightlife came to a sudden stop. The creative minds at ID&T needed a new outlet — and instead of sitting still, they turned their passion into an immersive art experience. Pretty amazing, right?

  2. Wear comfy shoes – You’ll be walking, standing, and maybe even dancing.

  3. Leave your expectations at the door – Just go with the flow andlet yourself be surprised.
